Ephesians 1:5 says that we are adopted as sons. As a matter of fact it says we were predestined to be adopted as sons [or daughters] by Jesus Christ to God according to the good pleasure of His will.
Now, I have heard people make the comment in one form or another, "Who am I that God would love me". I know that it sometimes comes from a place of humility, but I think it breaks God's heart when we say that because he says we are adopted as His children. That means we are part of His family, we are a part of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if we are in Christ, then we are a new creation and the old has passed away. If we are new creations then we don't have to ask 'who am I that God would love me', because we are His children. That means we are chosen! That means we are wanted! That means we are loved! That means we are amazing! We don't have to wonder who we are because, in the words of Matthew West; "My name is child of the one true king".
I encourage you to remember that anytime you are feeling down. Any time the enemy is coming against you, or any time you feel like you need to ask why would God love me remind yourself; "I am adopted and I am His child"!
